Many may not realise that these first ten days of Dhul Hijjah surpass all others in significance, SubhanAllah! They are the keys that unlock the doors to divine rewards and blessings. Giving charity in Dhul Hijjah is one of the most beloved acts to Allahﷻ.
The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah aren’t just special, they’re the most beloved days to Allahﷻ. This blessed period commemorates the ultimate act of sacrifice and devotion by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismail (AS). Many may not realise that these first ten days of Dhul Hijjah surpass all others in significance, SubhanAllah! They are the keys that unlock the doors to divine rewards and blessings. Giving charity in Dhul Hijjah is one of the most beloved acts to Allahﷻ.
The Prophet Muhammadﷺ emphasised the immense weight of charitable acts during this time. As narrated by Ibn Abbas (may Allahﷻ be pleased with him), the Prophetﷺ said, “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these.” –[Al-Bukhari]. Giving during these holy days carries a multiplied reward, aligning with the spirit of sacrifice and submission exemplified by our noble Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
As we reflect on our blessings, our hearts are drawn to the suffering of our brothers and sisters facing immense challenges worldwide – poverty, hunger, displacement and persecution. The Ummah’s trials remind us of our collective responsibility to support and uplift one another.
Every act of giving, big or small, has the potential to create a ripple effect of positive change. It can spread hope and uplift those in dire circumstances. By supporting One Ummah’s initiatives to provide essential aid, such as food, water, shelter, and medical care, we address immediate concerns and pave the way for long-term empowerment.
The Prophet Muhammadﷺ said
“The believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion are like one body; when one part of it suffers, the rest of the body joins it in staying awake and suffering fever.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Furthermore, our contributions foster a sense of solidarity and unity within the Ummah, reminding us of the unbreakable bond that connects us as one global community. Remember, charity is not only connected to monetary wealth. It’s about our character, conduct, kindness, and even a simple smile. As the Prophetﷺ said, “To smile at the face of your brother is an act of charity.”
Many of us may feel we could have done more during Ramadan. These beloved ten days of Dhul Hijjah offer another chance for blessings, forgiveness and worship. Through our charitable contributions, we can alleviate the suffering of our fellow Muslims, extend a helping hand to those in need, and embody the teachings of our beloved Prophetﷺ.
Every act of giving, no matter the form or the amount, carries the potential to uplift lives and bring us closer to Allah’sﷻ pleasure. So give generously and wholeheartedly; in doing so, we fulfil our obligations and create a brighter future for our Ummah.
Every act of charity carries extra weight during these ten blessed days. Imagine the impact you can make: providing a community with life-saving water, giving an orphan a new start to life, or feeding starving families across the globe. The Qur’an reminds us, “And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.” –[2:195]
